Annual licences cost $74.95 CAD and comes with all kinds of great benefits. Single venue (event weekend) licenses are available at a cost of $35.00 during the race registration process.
Why should you join? We’re glad you asked.
Joining Skimo Canada is similar to joining a trail association, race licensing authority or ski club. By formalizing our community we become stronger as an organization! It enables us to demonstrate the sport’s growing interest to sponsors, partner organizations and race directors. It also gives us more clout when we interact with government agencies, apply for grants, advocate for access and do all kinds of other boring yet necessary work behind the scenes to keep the sport operating, and growing, in Canada.
We take your financial support seriously! License fees help cover the costs incurred in support of our national race series, including race insurance, race officials, course markings/materials and much more. Skimo Canada is not for profit and completely volunteer run, however we inevitably incur expenses related to administration and governance. The cost to host this website is a great example. License fees help keep the lights on for our hard working volunteers.
We are looking for more than just athletes – volunteers, coaches, recreational practitioners and anyone who is interested in being a part of this growing sport are all encouraged to join.
What does your annual license get you?
- A Skimo Canada license number.
- The right to race in any division at Canada Cup events, score Canada Cup points and be ranked nationally.
- Eligibility for cash prizing in races where offered, as well as the ability to enter contests and giveaways held by Skimo Canada and/or our sponsors.
- Eligibility for selection to Canada’s national, national development, World Championships and, Olympic teams (Canadian citizens only).
- Access to open training camps, clinics and exclusive coaching opportunities when available.
- The right to attend our annual general meeting and influence the direction of Skimo Canada.
- The knowledge that you are part of a great organization and pride in contributing to the growth and sustainability of ski mountaineering in Canada!
What does a single event license (available during race registration) get you?
- The right to race in any division at your chosen Canada Cup event. Note that this includes the full race weekend, you do not need to purchase a license for each race during the weekend.
- The knowledge that you are (however briefly) part of a great organization and pride in contributing to the growth and sustainability of ski mountaineering in Canada!
Ok I bought a license, where can I find my Race License Number?
- Login to our membership / licensing portal. Your profile would have been created at the time you purchased your license – use the same email then click Next to enter your password. If you forgot your password, click the “I forgot my password” link to reset.
- Your Race License Number (a.ka. Contact ID Number) will be displayed next to your name. It is of the form: SMCC-number, for example: SMCC-0001. You may also update your contact information here under ‘Contact Profile‘.
