Just like that, summer is over. Athletes are on snow and it’s almost race season once again! Ski Mountaineering Competition Canada is pleased to present the 2024 Canada Cup calendar. With stops across four of Canada’s premier ski areas, plus North American Championships this year’s series is not to be missed!
- Castle Mountain Resort hosts the season opener, with the 12th edition of the Castle Mountain Ski Mountaineering Races running from January 12th to 14th, 2024. As in pervious years, expect a vertical race, sprint and the timeless Castle individual. Stay tuned to our calendar for registration details coming very soon.
- Back and better than ever for 2024, Whitewater Ski Resort brings their unique vibe and reputation for deep powder to the Canada Cup circuit with the Ymir Climber from February 2nd to 4th, 2024. Last year’s vertical and backcountry focused individual will return, and new this year is the addition of an Olympic format mixed relay!
- Marmot’s Revenge moves to a new weekend in 2024, bringing high-octane racing and fantastic courses back to Marmot Basin from March 16-17, 2024. Enjoy a well loved vertical and high-alpine focused individual at this year’s edition of this Rockies classic.
- The Steep Dreams Ski Mountaineering Festival returns to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort for this year’s Canada Cup finals. Expect flat out racing, buck wild terrain and a three day celebration of all skimo has to offer from March 22nd to 24th, 2024. Event regulars know what to expect: a vertical, individual and Canada’s only teams race.
North American Championships:
- Held biannually and alternating between Canada and the United States, this year’s North American Championships will take place from March 1st to 3rd, 2024 at the Wasatch Powder Keg in Brighton, Utah. This premier event will feature a vertical, sprint and individual and as always, the races are open – meaning anyone can line up next to the best this continent has to offer.
Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Non-Canada Cup Schedule page, where we’ll keep an up to date listing of all other Canadian races that we’re made aware of. (Please get in touch to submit a race.)
Of special note this year: Ski Mountaineering Competition Canada is now an independent national sporting organization. This is exciting news! Lots of updates and opportunities to help are coming down the pipeline but for now, be aware that a race license will be required to compete in all of the above events. Check out the membership page for more details.
